SoulCollage

SoulCollageTM
is a magical and intuitive collage process that supports you as an individual, in unexpected ways. This art form, for the artist and the non-artist alike, combines your own inner wisdom with powerful images that become sources of support, healing, understanding and truth.

  SoulCollageTM Experience

Honor and explore the many aspects of yourself,

your community, your dreams and other important

elements in your life. In creating, reading, writing,

and sharing your SoulCollage cards you will find that

you are truly celebrating your whole self. SoulCollage can be a

healing process and working with the images is often a window

into your subconscious, with unexpected references appearing

in the images that you are intuitively combining.

As you honor your inner wisdom you may experience renewal

of spirit and energy, giving voice to parts of yourself that have

gone unnoticed.

  SoulCollageTM- The Deck and Suits

In a traditional SoulCollage deck there are four suits – Committee, Council, Community, and Companion.  Additionally there are three transpersonal or silent cards, in a deck, which are used as markers to represent Source, the Silent Witness and Soul Essence.

Committee –
This suit is made up of all the different part of your personality. Your committee may include; the happy child, the wounded one, the angry one, the crabby mom, the bitch, the one who hides, the lover, the writer….on and on. Speaking from this card, “I am the one who…”.

Council –
This suit is made up of powerful images that are archetypal or mythic in nature. These are often stories and figures that you respond to from stories, maybe even from your childhood. Archetypal figures include universal types such as; The Hero/Heroine, The Teacher, The Healer, whereas mythic figures might include; Athena, Spirit Bear, Zeus, Merlin, The Crone. These are figures and images that speak to you and inform you, in regards to your strengths or other personal attributes. There are also universal truths council cards such as; Death, Grief, Passion, (I am the one who grieves for the world…) that may be different than a card that represents a parts of your personality that might say, “ I am the one who is sad ”.

Community –
This suit is made up of people that are important to you in your life. It may include family, friends, mentors, pets and even sacred places. Many people include people that have been teachers, or others that they admire.

Companions –
This suit is made up of your personal guides (most often animals, but sometimes flowers or trees) that represent the energy of each of your seven Chakras. This suit is best created slowly, using guided imagery to find each Chakra spirit.

  SoulCollageTM Experience it yourself...

Creating your first card:

1) Decide what size you want your deck to be. There are official SoulCollage card packs (mat board 4 5/8 x 7 5/8 inches) that are available through this site or on the SoulCollage site (see links). You may decide to begin by using a file folder, or cardboard cut in the same or in a different dimension or shape.

2) Find images in magazines in several categories such as backgrounds, people, animals and objects. Use a variety of magazines and print sources, finding images that are interesting and that attract you. Explore images that may represent the unusual, try using images with broad ethnicity and diverse cultural content.

3) Intuitively choose a background, then look for a single image that you will tear or cut out, placing it somewhere on the background. The two images together create a third image that often speaks to an entirely new concept. You may use more than two images (see the 2 image card example in this section, verses the 4 image card in the Suits section) but keep it simple and see what happens! Magic…

4) You may find that you gather images for a long time, or you may start making cards right away. You might speak from the cards as you make them or wait to do a reading with other people. Try journaling from them or picking one card a day and reading it to yourself in the morning. A card with a candle on a personal altar is a wonderful addition to spiritual/personal practice. Whatever your process it is perfect, Enjoy!

5) SoulCollage cards are for personal use. It is important to honor the integrity of the SoulCollage process, respecting the copyrights and images of artists and photographers that we use for this personal process.
